Just in time for summer, Europeana have three new walking tours for you.

Explore three European capital cities - Amsterdam, Dublin and London - to discover new stories and landmarks on the city streets.

Amsterdam's queer history

Step into the heart of Amsterdam’s queer past and present on this self-guided walking tour through one of Europe’s most progressive cities. From hidden histories to proud landmarks, this tour tells a story of the city's queer history and culture.

Discover Dublin's statues

Take this tour in Dublin to meet authors, reformers and radicals with stories of war, revolution, drama, literature and poetry. This self-guided walking tour brings the city to life through its statues and the people and history of Ireland they commemorate.

Why has Europeana launched walking tours?

The content found on Europeana.eu is reused in increasingly creative ways to inspire and inform fresh perspectives and open conversations about our history and culture - whether it’s teachers developing resources for lessons, developers using our open-source API to make games, or culture lovers creating gifs and telling stories.

In 2025, Europeana are increasingly focussing on projects in tourism and media. For tourism, in particular, our mission is to develop new impactful reuse cases with cultural heritage.

Walking tours via mobile apps can lead visitors to places of cultural interest with digital objects - from historical images to video and audio content or 3D reconstructions - helping to interpret what they are looking at.
