Plantas comestibles de Ámerica

Los hábitos alimenticios de los europeos serían muy diferentes si Cristóbal Colón no hubiera decidido navegar hacia el oeste en busca de una ruta más rápida hacia las “Islas de las especias” en el sudeste asiático. Zarpó de España en agosto de 1492, pretendiendo llegar a las Indias por el Atlántico y abrir así una nueva ruta comercial, cuando se topó con el Nuevo Mundo. Tras el “descubrimiento” del continente americano comenzó inevitablemente el intercambio de plantas y animales entre el Viejo y el Nuevo Mundo. En esta selección se pueden encontrar algunos ejemplos de plantas comestibles nativas de América y que cambiarían la dieta europea (y la del resto del mundo) para siempre.
