Ženská gramotnost ve středověku

Ženská gramotnost byla ve středověku překvapivě vysoká. Jeptišky byly autory a písaři. Mnoho dalších žen podporovalo čtení a učení, zvláště urozené ženy. Jedním z příkladů byla Christine de Pizan, básnířka na dvoře francouzského krále Karla VI.
