Kvindelig læsefærdighed i middelald

Kvindelig læsefærdighed i middelalderen var overraskende høj. Nonner var forfattere og skriftlærde. Mange andre kvinder opmuntrede til at læse og lære, især ædle kvinder. Et eksempel var Christine de Pizan, en digter ved hoffet til kong Charles VI af Frankrig.
